Dr. Stephen P. Gonzalez is an Assistant Athletics Director for Leadership and Mental Performance at Dartmouth College, an NCAA Division I Ivy League Institution. At Dartmouth, Dr. Gonzalez is responsible for leadership development, programming, and consulting as well as mental training for teams and individuals for 35 sports and 900+ student-athletes as part of the Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) Program. Prior to Dartmouth, Dr. Gonzalez was an Assistant Professor of Sport Psychology at The College at Brockport, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system in greater Rochester, New York. Dr. Gonzalez taught classes in Sport Psychology and Sport in Society, conducted research on resilience and motivation, and was a consultant to Brockport Athletics where he helped teams and individual athletes master the mental approach to competition. He has been providing mental training consultations to athletes, coaches, teams, and organizations from a variety of levels and backgrounds since 2007. In his time consulting, Dr. Gonzalez has worked with athletes at the youth level, high school athletes, collegiate athletes (NCAA and NAIA), Olympic Trials participants (both the Summer and Winter Games), professional athletes, and the United States Army. Dr. Gonzalez is very experienced working with athletes from many different sports- tennis, running, swimming, marksmanship and shooting, golf, track and field, skiing, hockey, lacrosse, basketball, football, soccer, martial arts, and baseball as well as performing artists such as professional symphony musicians. Dr. Gonzalez is always open to applying his knowledge of sport and performance psychology to any athlete or performer interested in improving their mental approach. Dr. Gonzalez has appeared in several popular magazines and media outlets such as Trail Runner Magazine, Backpacker Magazine, Sports Magazine, Rocky Mountain Running and Triathlon Magazine, National Alliance for Youth Sport's (NAYS) Sporting Kid Magazine, and BrooksRunning.com to provide the public with common tips and ideas to improve their performances. He lives in Hanover, NH with his two children.
